Opening Day Trout fishing trip report

4/2 PA's South East Regional Trout season opener. The rivers were packed with anglers all trying to get a shot at some recently stocked Rainbow Trout. You aren't allowed to start fishing until 8am (I think that's when the game wardens wake up). Anyway, we bounced around to five different bodies of water trying to find some place that was stocked and was also not crowded.

We ended up at a local pond that was privately stocked and not on any of the fish and boat commission's maps.

My mom caught 4 Rainbow trout. One was given to us, and my solitary fish for nine hours of fishing is below:



We had to resort to power bait (eww) as spinners produced 0 bites (for hours) and flyfishing is pretty much out of the question on opening day.
